Impact
Sustainability is always paramount at el.résidu. We keep our footprint as small as possible by working with
leftover and vintage materials. We produce in small batches, design items 'made to last', package without plastic where possible, and deliver local orders completely free of charge by bicycle.
Our clothing is ethically produced in small-scale, female-owned ateliers in India, Turkey, and the Netherlands, where craftsmanship, fair prices, and care for people are paramount. In this way, we not only create clothing with care, but also a process that is right.
Our impact so far (and counting)
- 1000+ meters of fabric saved from textile waste and given a new life
- 100+ orders delivered locally by bike in Amsterdam, instead of shipped via PostNL
- 1000+ plastic polybags saved by packing items in leftover fabrics instead of plastic
- Production in small batches, preventing structural overproduction
- Collaboration with small-scale, female-owned ateliers, supporting fair employment
- Designs made to be worn for a long time and not replaced after one season
Every el.résidu item starts with existing materials and ends as a conscious choice that lasts. Our impact, therefore, is not in perfection, but in choices that collectively make a difference. The beauty of this is that it gives this work much more meaning and potentially inspires others.
