A special project emerged after my trip to the Saheli Women Center last May '23. They were dealing with a batch of caftans that had been rejected by a customer. A big problem for them, because they had already incurred all the costs and were now not getting paid.
Unfortunately, this is not uncommon in the fashion world and happens regularly. This behavior of brands can cause enormous impact and problems for suppliers and can even lead to bankruptcy. Also consider the impact of these items which are then considered waste and destroyed. Such a shame!
I asked Madhu, the owner of Saheli: what if I buy these items now? And transform them into a new design?
She looked at me with big eyes and said, Wow, would you do that? That would be such a help and relief!
The kaftans were made of plain white 'crinkle' silk-cotton. To brighten them up a bit, we decided to use the eco-dye technique with flowers and herbs and change the design slightly by adding a tunnel at the waist and a string at the neck that you can tie as tight as you like. finds. Inside there is a lovely thin cotton lining that feels very soft on your skin.
Perfect for beach days or to a party with beautiful statement heels underneath. They are all unique, so good luck choosing ;)
